Black Lives Matter

'Black Lives Matter' is an organized movement advocating for non-violent civil disobedience in protest against incidents of police brutality against African-American people. It was started in 2013. Alicia Garza; Patrisse Cullors; Opal Tometi are the founders of such a protest. Shaun King; DeRay Mckesson; Johnetta Elzie; Tef Poe; Erica Garner are some key people of this movement. The purpose was anti-racist advocacy and protest. The movement has demonstrated initially by following the deaths of two African-Americans and after numbers of other African-American people by police actions, while in police custody. After that, it created its large network. The overall Black Lives Matter movement is a decentralized network and has no formal hierarchy. It was formed as a response to sustained and increasingly visible violence against black communities.

Such a phrase expresses the racism prevails in our society. We all are created by the almighty God. But there are so many discriminations on the basis of black color. Since the beginning, black color have always been seemed as loathsome. But why? There are some questions to be asked.

  • What Black Lives Matter means?

  • Why it's problematic to say 'All Lives Matter'?

  • Is that meant other lives don't?

  • Having a black color is that person's fault?

The omnipotent God has created us with some attributes. Some are white and some are black in color. But somehow our mentality shows that being a white person is able to do anything. But it doesn't mean that a black person is unable.

At its face, "All Lives Matter" sounds like we're-all-in-this-together statement. Some may be using the phrase to suggest that all races should join hands and stand together against racism, which is a sentiment that comes from a good heart. But the problem is, the phrase actually takes the focus away from those who need it. Saying "All Lives Matter" redirects the attention of Black lives, who are the ones in peril.

Black Lives Matter doesn't mean that only black lives matter. We know that 'All Lives Matter'.

#Black_Lives_Matter for Black lives are in danger.
