The Brahmaputra river is now raising day by day. Not only this river but Dhansiri, Jia Bharali, Kopili, Beki, Kusiyara and Sankosh are also flowed above the danger mark at several places of the state. As a result, more than 2,500 villages have turned into swamping. Over 50,000 victims uprooted by floods and have been sheltered at 51 relief camps and safer locations.
According to the report of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), at least 80 people have lost their lives due to severe flooding. Not only human beings but the animal kingdom also got affected. More than 100 animals have been killed. In this list rhinos, wild buffalo, wild boar, swamp deer, sambar, python, porcupines etc. are included.World widely Assam is famous for its tea and plantations. This State has to bear the loss of it. In another side Assam is a state having more than 23000 covid cases. From which 57 people are included in the list of dead bodies and 19210 people have been recovered from corona virus. Both the central and state government has keeping their eyes on both flood and the pandemic. Both are providing possible assistance to the victims. Flood is one hand and in other hand Corona emerged as the challenges. The people of the state are fighting with them in the battle.
