What is flu?

Influenza is better known as flu. It is a contagious respiratory illness. This disease is caused by the virus. As a result the nose, throat and lungs got infected. Influenza is commonly known as flu, but it is not the  same thing as stomach flu virus which cause vomiting and diarrhea.

Symptoms:

Generally, people confused in flu and bad cold. But both are not same. There are some symptoms of flu below

  • High temperatures

  • Headache

  • Fatigue

  • Exhaustion

  • Aching limbs and joints

  • Cold wear

  • Shivers


Origin:

The influenza emerged as a pandemic in 1918. It was first identified in military personnel in the United States and then spread across the world. It was originated by H1N1 virus with genes of avian.

During that period the one-third population of the globe had got affected. More than 50 million people were registered in the list of dead bodies. This disease was popular as Spanish flu. To stay out of this virus, people had used to follow isolation, quarantine, good personal hygiene, use of the disinfectants, social distancing and like these.

When a new virus emerged that can infect people and be spread among them easily. Especially to the most people who have no immunity, it turns into a pandemic. Like this flu had spread as a pandemic. 

Types:

The influenza virus is categorized as A, B and C. A and B types of flu are include sniffling, coughing, aching and running a high fever. Type C is a kind of flu that is less severe than others.

How can we safe ourselves?

  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sniffing

  • Wash your hands regularly

  • Drink plenty of water and rest

  • Use antivirals if needed

  • Get the fly vaccine every year

  • Avoid being around of sick people

  • Try not to touch the eyes, nose and mouth
