Seat reservation or quota system in India is for the development of backward people. But on the basis of such reservation other able categories got highly affected. Is it indicates fair? If it is fair to backward people, isn't it unfair to others?
Government of India funded higher education institutions, 22.5% of available seats are reserved for scheduled caste (SC) students (7.5% for STs, 15% for SCs). This reservation percentage has been raised to 49.5% by including an additional 27% reservation for OBCs.
Formerly Scheduled Castes are termed as sudra varna who only does works like sewage cleaning, washing clothes etc. Ina typical sought of society they severely captured by untouchability.
Scheduled Tribe is the indications of primitive traits, distinctive culture, geographical isolation, shyness of contact with the community at large, and backwardness. Godi, Santal, Bodo, Kondh, Bonda, Banjara are some tribes of India. Mainstream policies are far away from them.
Another group is Other Backward Classes or OBC. Mostly OBCs are considered as the lower castes. With the absence of socio-economic advantages they became Dalits.
Apart from these three categories people who are come under the classification I.e. General Castes. Here Brahmin, Kshatriya and Vaishya varnas are coming under this category. There is no scheme or reservations for Generals.
In reality in schools every categories of students do hard work to secure good marks. If a General student got 80% and SC/ST/OBC student got 55% in exams; both of them applied for a same government college, the later categorized student will be selected first.
Apart from education in workplace too Generals are selected after them. Government had started such reservation policy in order to bring equality in the society. It means equality should be in between have and haven't, rural and urban, rich and poor etc. But now we are live in 21 century. Everything is changing with our mentality. And now General category is dominated. They are facing unjust and unfair. So how it is establishing equality in the society?
