'Khandua Pata Bastra' In Jagannath Sanskruti

The almighty Lord Jagannath has a weakness of a special costume or Maniabandha's Khandua Pata Bastra. This wear is present in every ritual of 'Bada Thakura', whether it may be Rathayatra, or Niladri bije, or in Anasara period' or so on. It's like of His rituals are incomplete without this Khandua Pata. Apart from the state, it is a thing of appreciation across the globe. 

The Nuapatna village of Athagarh, Cuttack district has got a special attention for Maniabandha Khandua Pata Bastra. According to the villagers, it is a very old tradition. They are making these creations from tusseer fabrics with their hands. This handloom product has been made with pure heart and without having nonveg. The history says, a China traveler Huan Tsang had came to Maniabandha. He took a Pata from there. Since then most of the villagers have agreed to choose that profession. They am are the followers of Buddhism. There are around twelve Budh temple situated. 

It's been years of heartly relationship between the artist and Lord Jagannath. They both are emotionally connected with each other since years. The world have been faced the pandemic, in which the distance were maintained among people, things etc. But it couldn't separate the holly wear from the Omnipotent. With respecting all the rules and regulations Khandua Pata had reached to Him.

This Khandua Pata Bastra is the symbol of peace and nonviolence. One whose mind is not calm, can't made this wear at all. This bastra couldn't cut by scissor or knife or any cutting object. Maniabandha is the place known as the mastery place of Khandua Bastra. 

Maniabandha's Pata Bastra has made Odisha as well as the Jagannath sanskruti unique. But due to lack of attention this tradition and the great artists who made it alive with their magic touch, have maintaining distance from it. It should be highlighted and need a helping hand for it's safety.
