Flood Situation In Odisha

Natural calamity and Odisha had a very close relationship. It may be cyclones or floods. Recently, Odisha has been going through that situation of flood. More than 17 people have died and over 10,000 houses damaged in flood related areas. As the effect of Hirakud Dam has discharged of huge volume of water has caused the flood-like situation. Around  14,32,701 people are affected because of flood in 3,256 villages of 20 districts, and approximately 10,382 houses damaged. 

In this period, person like pregnant woman has been rescued by the district administration and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team. She was admitted to the nearest hospital safely. According to a fire service worker Jagannath Nayak,  "The villages of Odapada, Kamakhyanagar Parjang, and Gondia have been completely flooded by water from the Brahmani river. The two men were rescued after they jumped into the floodwaters for fun but the flow was too strong and they lost control,". Some other people have also been rescued by the team.

As heavy rain triggered by a low pressure are over the Bay of Bengal, 11 major rivers, including Mahanadi got bloated. 

Most of the districts like Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput etc. have been badly affected by the flood. 

"Following discharge of huge volume of water from Hirakud dam, 10 to 10.5 lakh cusec of water is likely to flow through Munduli shortly which may trigger a medium level flood in the Mahanadi delta region," Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), P K Jena said.

After 45 days of the Cyclone Titli, many parts of Chikiti in Ganjam district continue to be disconnected from administration and development, local MLA Usha Devi is a minister in the Naveen Patnaik-led government. She is yet to visit the affected areas. And now expecting something is worthless.

Flood took out the envi that includes life, properties, agriculture and so on. Farmers are the most affected category. They suffers a lot as they cultivate grain and vegetables. And now their cultivating land is surrounded by water. People have 1 to 2 ft of water on their floor. They can't go outside. Cooked food is not applicable for them. In this manner Odisha is facing the flood.
