The "One District, One Focus Product" (ODOFP) initiative is considered very important in this regard. Promoting a well-known product in each district will help improve its quality as well as increase its value. It will also be possible to find markets in other countries for such identified products and farmers will benefit.
The Ministry of Agriculture, in consultation with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, has identified the products under one district. The state, UT and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) have also been advised in the process.
The statement said that in 426 districts of the country, agriculture, horticulture, cattle, poultry, dairy, fisheries and aquaculture were selected. The Ministry of Agriculture said the products would be promoted under the cluster approach through the central government's plan.
This will help increase the price of these products and increase farmers' incomes. The identified products will be supported under the PM-FME scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing.
Similarly, various departments will support it at their own level. Through central schemes such as the National Food Security Mission, the Ministry of Agriculture will promote one district, one product. The implementation of this initiative will pave the way for increasing the price of agricultural commodities and increasing agricultural exports.
